I’ve seen this posted and gather it has negative connotations but I can’t figure out the acronym.

Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Basically, fear mongering.

FUD = fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Normally used of personages or companies that deliberately try to muddle an issue by appealing to people's fears or ignorance.
