Hi I do not know if this is the right forum section to post this mail - so sorry if I am wrong here..
During some webresarch I found an old thread here from 2006 where someone was asking if ubuntu has the capabilities of a centralized desktop management (like Active Directory).
I would like to know if it is possible to create some sort of group structure where policies are bound to and unix machines can be bound again to it. And I would like to know if there is in the meantime a patch management system like wsus available. The basic requirement would be to load updates to a central database, review them, install them on test systems and if all checks (it & qm) are passed roll them out to all clients - if possible via again one update server in each site (3 sites) that get the updates from one of the servers that is set to be the master. Also it should be possible to also trigger centrally the removement of desktop patches that have been rolled out.

thanks for an answer in advance

best regards
Christian
