I'm fairly new to Ubuntu. I know there are loads of games in the repositories, but I was wondering if anyone wanted to recommend any cool games in the style of Medieval Total War, Stronghold 2 or battle simulations that are written for Ubuntu?:guitar:

Battle for Wesnoth normally falls into this category.
If you like the turn-based stuff that the earlier stronghold games have.

It's in the repos, search and install wesnoth or wesnoth-all.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but one of the best games available natively for Linux is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/Enemy_Territory;14408). It is kind of like Call of Duty or Battlefield, and is probably the best fps you can get without Wine.

It looks really cool, but the installer has a .run file. I tried double clicking on it and it said 'no application associated with it'. I sound really dumb, huh? How do I run a file called run! I'm googling it, but if you know, I'd appreciate a short cut ;-)

this will run it

cd /path/to/file
./file.run

Cool thanks.
I chmod it too.
I did get this error:
error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The setup program seems to have failed on x86/glibc-2.1
