I'm actually running a quadruple-boot system: XP and Vista on one drive, Hardy and Mandriva on another.

The Linux drive is partitioned like this:

- Two Root partitions (one each for Ubuntu & Mandriva)
- One Home partition - I use different usernames in Ubuntu & Mandriva to keep each one's configuration separate
- One fat32 Data partition where I share all documents etc. between the four OS's

So far things seem to be working okay, but when I installed Turboprint on Mandriva the Setup and Configuration icons also appeared on the Ubuntu desktop. So I'm wondering whether I should really have two separate Home partitions? Or won't it be any different from operating as two distinct users within a single Home partition?

You could do it. Don't really need to, but you could.
