problem installing tomcat5.5

i just installed hardy, and the problems have started flowing :(
i tried installing tomcat5.5 through synaptic..but during installation i get the following message, which persists through all my later installs.
the message is :

E: tomcat5.5: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
E: solr-tomcat5.5: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: tomcat5.5-admin: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
E: tomcat5.5-webapps: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

i have installed tc5.5 on gutsy and it wasnt problematic at all.
