Hello all. I am running ubuntu 8.04 with all updates on my toshiba u200 laptop. I recently was changing my panel configurations and deleted the Notification Area applet. When I added it back onto my new panel a few moments later, the grey lines denoting its limit appeared but there were no icons present (wireless strength/network status, battery status, etc). I have removed and re-added the applet several times, with no change.

The only icons that show now are taskbar application buttons (deluge, etc), the Tracker search icon, and update notification icons.

This is annoying. I miss the easy visual reference of wireless strength, the Network Monitor applet is just plain ugly, as is the Battery Charge Monitor applet. Can anybody help me out?

Thanks in advance!

Max in Seattle.

Have you tried to restart gdm ctrl+alt+bksp I think that is what I did to get it working again.
