I have looked at several dual boot guides on the internet for this, and all of them assume that one has a windows OS installed beforehand. Can somebody outline the steps I need to take, if I have Ubuntu installed first, with no partitions made yet, and a windows xp cd at my disposal? Additionally, I plan on using the xp partition to install my games and the like, so I would like to alot more space to that partition.

Windows is extremely picky in my experience of setting up dual boot systems. I'm sure this is not impossible, but you may want to consider installing windows first then adding the Ubuntu partition after. I have not found any guide showing windows to successfully install for dual boot with Ubuntu installed first.

okay, in this case should I reformat the HD to wipe off Ubuntu, after having backed up everything, then install windows, followed by ubuntu?
