Hello
I am confused because there are many types of ubuntu
kubuntu,xubuntu ... etc
What are the differences between them

They use different desktops.
That means other tools, other ways things are done..
Difficult to explain if you haven't try it yourself.
Xubuntu uses xfce desktop which is considerably lighter and recommended for older machines.
Kubuntu uses kde desktop. It's a more windows-like (that's what everyone says, I don't really agree) environment and it's definitely more customizable than ubuntu's gnome.
Gnome (ubuntu's default desktop) keeps things clear, user-friendly, simple and it is also considered stable.
