Hi,

I have a PC and a laptop, both with Ubuntu8.04. The PC has last kernel 2.6.24-19 but laptop has only 2.6.24-16. The update settings are the same. Right now I have lauched update manager on laptop and my kernel was updated, BUT there are no symbol "reboot required" on notification area.

My first thought was that the notification area is missing (therefore there was no updates- the "updates available" icon was not shown) , so I have added notification area but still no "reboot required" icon.

my question is: how to list all items in my panel? like windows list, volume control etc.
Should update notification and "reboot required" appears in notification area or elsewhere?

just curious

thanks

let me look at my panel for you:

your going to want to right click on the panel in an empty area and select "add to panel"

top panel has [from left to right]

main menu, firefox, evolution. help [firefox to help can be done after everything else is up] user switcher, deskbar, notification area, audio, clock, quit.

bottom panel [same way]
show desktop, window list, workspace switcher, trash
