So I installed hardy on a 20gb usb-attached hard drive, works great. did the same thing with an 8gb flashdrive, and it boots, brings up the login window, i login, and then it stops. could gnome be trying to re-mount the flashdrive (since by default when gnome sees a flashdrive it's supposed to auto-mount it)? anyway, does anyone know how to turn off the auto-mount of flashdrives in gnome without being in gnome? ie. how to do that without the gui?
