View Full Version : [ubuntu] MSI 16332 troubles

I have an MSI 16332 laptop with an AMD Turion X2, 2GB Ram, 60GB SATA HD. Nvidia Geforce Go 7600 chipset

I can install Ubuntu, but after the install I cannot boot from anything. I have to physically remove the hard drive before I can boot from a cd again.

What would cause this. I've tried both x86 and 64bit editions, text mode only, command line only, and even Suse 10.3 The install always works, but it will not boot at all.

I have noticed that the automatic partitioner does not set a boot flag on any partition. Is this not necessary? Though I have tried manually creating the partitions as well, setting the boot flag on the primary ext3 partition. I've also tried creating a dedicated boot partition, as I thought used to be required for older versions of linux.

I'm out of ideas. I've seen posts of other people running linux on this laptop. How can I get it to work?
