Hi,
i've been searching all day for this problem
here's my current upgraded system : 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 02:46:46 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
CPU Intel e2180 (dual core)
i decided for no particular reason to upgrade my feisty 7.04 to gutsy 7.10 this morning, the upgrade went okay then after the reboot it began to loop into a kernel panic..
in rescue mode on the new kernel i saw a quick lag on a APIC CPU/SMP Message so i disabled Multi-threading (that's what it's called) in my BIOS.
After that the system booted normaly and as expected it runs on a single core..
my feisty kernel works fine in multithreading but the nvidia driver is broken for that kernel after the upgrade and X won't start..
There's a bit of output after the lag and before the panic reboot but it's too fast for me to read.
So is there a know problem with SMP and that gutsy kernel ? i doubt it.
Then how can i prevent the panic from rebooting to see the rest of the message or where do i see the log, i couldn't find the panic log when i booted the system in Single core mode after that..
thx for your help
