In simple terms, I'd like to make my computer a wireless access point(AP) repeater, but at the some time, have it be able to monitor all of the traffic going in and out of it. It would be great if the monitoring could put out a file that would have the history, and all information sent and received.

I have a wireless usb adapter to wireless router connection, and a spare router to be able to take incoming and outgoing traffic. The usb stick is an Ativa AWGUA54 Wireless G adapter. The spare router is a Netgear Wireless Firewall router WGT624 v2.

Thanks in advance

You can do this with hostapd: http://hostap.epitest.fi/hostapd/

The version that comes in the Ubuntu repositories is a bit out of date, so you would probably want to build it from source. This involves having kernel headers, etc.

Looks to be way over my head, but thanks for trying. :)
