Im installing ubuntu 8.04 on my grandma's old computer:
pentium 3, 128mb ram
I got the cd of a magazine, and i inserted it into the pc, and i click install ubuntu. Then a loading screen comes, then another screen with some background comes but then it takes forever, and its been like 30 min now.
Any ideas?

You might not have enough RAM......the CDs I obtained from Shippit recommend 256Mb or more.

I'd say you add more RAM to sum up to 384MB as stated on Ubuntu Desktop's recommended system requirement.
You could still try the alternate CD if you don't want to upgrade your RAM.

yeah thats what i thought too, on mine it says 512mb, but its reccomended, so it will work with lower ram. but i got the installation going in the text mode ;)

Well, try to wait for the installation to finish and observe its performance. If it still lags, then, additional RAM is required.
