I was told I can upgrade Directly from 6.06 LTS to Hardy? Is this true and if so-would this be a preferred way of getting 8.04 for me? Especially since I could not get 7.01 or whatever the last version was installed becuase the installer didn't support my nvidea graphics card natively...The problem is everything is running good-except no sound-under Dapper and I am afraid to F#$k that up by going to Hardy..Please Advise...should I try to upgrade(If this is possible w/o going through all 4 distros) or should I do a fresh install?

Many will advise you to do a fresh install, and I also will tell you that will likely be the better way, but there is a way. While I've not done this, as I've been upgrading all along, hopefully it should work.

I went the 6.06 LTS to 8.04 LTS direct upgrade in early April.

As I'm on dial-up (my choice), the process took a lazy 100 hours.

Other than a few minor, easy-to-fix problems, my system has been trouble free with 8.04 LTS.
