Hello, i have ubuntu on my pc and i am looking forward to install it on my old desktop pc. It has Intel Pentium 3 processor (1Ghz), 40 Gb hardisk, 256 SD Ram, Integrated graphics (Trident,8MB),Realtech Ethernet Card , Optical Mouse and Keyboard.
I tried running Ubuntu HH livecd, it worked fine though, just resolution werent good (Graphic card supports 800x600). So i think it wont run much smoothly lol.

So can anyone suggest which version of ubuntu or linux in general would be good for this pc? Desktop effects is not a requirement. All i want is a good stable and fast system with good support.

i'd put xubuntu on there instead. I have an 8 year old 1ghz P3 Tiny Laptop with trident GFX and 256MB ram, 20MB HD. Ubuntu ran horribly but xubuntu goes fine and have been using it for nearly a year now. Use the alternate CD ISO

Thanks for the reply essexboyracer. Yeah i think it too. So i should go for xubuntu? Will the system be somewhat faster than xp?
