Hullo. I've got Opera 9.50 Beta 2, and would like to update to the stable release. I've downloaded the Opera package, but Synaptic insists that i allready have a newer version, and i can't find a way bypass it. What do i do?

You could uninstall the beta using Synaptic and then download the Ubuntu package from the opera website and install it using the command "sudo dpkg -i package.deb".

Wouldn't that make me loose my settings? Loosing them is not very desireable.

no. settings are stored in '.opera' in your home directory (it's a hidden directory)
uninstalling it would just remove the program, and leave your profile.
you could always back it up if you were worried
