Firfox will have the record either way, since they are the first ones trying it.

So in other words, the current record is "0".

If your foolish enough to download today, your looking for a possible corrupted package, if history repeats itself, on releases.

I can appreciate your Karnakian prediction but the new posts are full of people try to download to use it as a upgrade on gutsy etc. Seems kind of like eating potato chips tastes good but no nutritional value, and possibly not good for you. :) Besides be a individual at least somewhere in your life, following a trend like a lemming may result in a negative outcome.

Always a good understatement. :)

Know what would have been really funny? If only two people downloaded it. Since there are no record already existing, Firefox would then actually manage to hold the world record for most downloaded file ever with just two downloads - which would imply that any other file that were ever downloaded from the Internet, has only been downloaded once.

(please forgive me, it's four in the morning, I got a bad case of insomnia, and these are the things that occupy my thoughts at this god-forsaken hour)

rune0077, the record would quickly be broken if that were the case.

Only if somebody bothered to call Guinness and get the judged to come and watch. Otherwise it doesn't count. The fact that nobody has ever done this before, shows that there's not much of an interest in holding this particular world record. Though once it actually got in the book, that might inspire others. It would still be funny, though.

Woke up today to find FF3 has been downloaded 2.8 million times. I'm shocked, didn't imagine such figures. I predict about 4-5 mill.

If it had been better advertised in India and China (half the planet population) it would had easily broken the 10 million mark by now.

It's clear those countries aren't the biggest firefox users, Mozilla needs to get their hand on those markets.

India has a good number of internet users but most of them are ignorant. I did my best to tell my friends, atleast they are aware.

Woohoo I voted over 10 million, I think it might make it. It was a bit annoying though it said it would be released on the 17th and didn't give a specific time. Well it's already 10.15 on the 18th where I am and it wasn't until today that I could download it. Not that I actually use the download obviously, just want to help with the record :).

Poll Conclusions:

We all lost. There was no 8 million in the Poll. 7 million != 8 million.

who ever said 7 million was the closest, so they'll be getting random fan mail with firefox shaped chocolates and balloons from the North korean mozilla crew.

Countries that most disappointed me:

India: 80 thousand downloads / 1 billion people (about 150+ million internet users)

Country that most surprised me:

Iran: 260,000 downloads (in the top 5) :)

congrats to everyone from Iran (even with all the political problems going on).

I think Iranians want to erase the American propaganda that it's a terrorist country, I am not an Iranian but Iran is like any other country. I've seen it and it has very nice and beautiful suburbs. It's a shame that the Yankee Mozilla bans all Iranians from participating in the community's contest (if you don't believe this you should see the contests' rules)

i downloaded firefox about 2 hours ago, will that have counted? i didn't want to download it on the day because i don't think much of firefox, i just got it because it was in a repo i updated!

after trying firefox 3 i don't think much of it, there's always going to be problems with extensions with these kinds of updates - some don't work, and if you make them compatible it can cause problems etc. i give it 2/10, not a bad effort, but no where near as good as opera 9.5!!!! lol

the right-click menu completely doesn't work, it's broken!! unless that's a feature? i don't know!
