Ok. I have two questions:

1. What does it mean to burn a feed?
2. Why would you do it, if you can read from the original RSS file?

I believe you are talking about http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/home. Burning a feed is something that the feed owner would do in order to publish. This isnt something that a reader would need to do.

But my feed is already published on my website. Why would I need to burn it as well?

if you take a look on their main page they clearly state that it is to advertise and publish. It will help you get more people reading your feed. It should off load some of the server load from your hosting computer to their servers. You should also note however there is no NEED to burn the feed. Everything will work just fine without burning it.
