I just finished my guide to customizing Ubuntu for newcomers (http://linuxowns.wordpress.com/2008/06/16/guide-to-customizing-ubuntus-look-and-feel/) and was hoping some here members could read it and make suggestion to make it

a) easier
b) more complete

Thanks.

Might be good to credit anyone who's info you "might" be using, especially if that info was acquired though the forums.

Other than that, it seems fine.

Looks good. Great guide, btw... definitely something newcomers would understand.:)

Lovely guide.

How about a bit about Conky? it looks difficult to a beginner but it's not all that bad - but a bit tricky. You could publish some conky.rc files with screenshots of what they would look like.

I don't think that most of the items in that guide would have helped me as a newbie, because I wouldn't have used anything past "Change your icons". On the plus side, it's very well written and you've done a great job of making it easy to follow. Congrats!

I wrote the post without any help, just using my experience on the subject.

Some of the links might contain some parts from a forum post, but it's to late to track those down now.

Excellent tutorial! I had to blog it (http://nancib.wordpress.com/2008/06/16/guide-to-customizing-ubuntu/) to help make sure people knew the info is out there.

And you're correct about the links part.
