Seems like a few years ago there was a plugin for thunderbird that would select a random tag line from a list of tag lines to go at the bottom of your emails.

Is something similar to that available?

I don't use evolution, thunderbird or any email software. I use GMail it has a signature feature built in under settings and use google desktop with the search your gmail account option on (it is built in)

If you do use Gmail be sure to also use firefox and download the Better Gmail 2 extension. This extension allows multiple HTML signatures and there's even a site that tells how to make the sig into a bookmarklet so you can click and choose on a per email basis.
