Sorry I haven't been around the last three months, this place keeps me pretty damn busy.

92 days in the military and as sad as it sounds, the two things I miss the most are my puppy and my computer. Soon we shall be reunited.

So, what's new here, other than a drastic change in the forum theme?

Three months, eh?

- Nothing really different on the forums themselves, April Fool's day was, well, interesting. The backyard was renamed to "OMG PINK PONIES", and the name stuck even after April 1st.
- Banshee seems to have come out of the blue and is now a very, very good music player, rivalling Amarok.
- Intrepid Ibex alpha 1 is nearly out
- 3 desktop threads have been posted, with no new trends in desktop appearance
- Google have released Google Gadgets for Linux, which are similar to screenlets
- Everyone hates Joost now for saying they'd never make a linux version (IIRC)
- The makers of emesene, aMSN and pymsn are teaming up to create aMSN2
- A few new compiz plugins
- One of the Ubuntu conferences was canceled (don't know which one)
- There's an uproar about Nokia, as they think that open source devs should "grow up" and "learn business", people are worried about Qt being a minefield for lawsuits
- Microsoft think that Africans don't understand open source
- Rumors of Steam being developed for Linux
- Firefox 3's out very soon, in a few days
- Wine's nearly released 1.0 final, after 15 years of development

The desktop isn't flat anymore, it's a sphere (see compiz group in details)

Oh and the ubuntu conference wasn't exactly cancelled, they merged it with another one that was going on at the same place / same time.

So basically the usual, right? ;)

Looking forward to being back. Two more weeks in the field and I'm pretty much done. I might even be able to set up my computer again at my next posting.
