Hello!

I installed KDE 4.1 earlier today from the repo listed at Kubuntu's homepage.

It's working fine and all, but when I try to play Enemy Territory: Quake Wars the game gets all choppy!
I've checked the ping and it isnt lag, the FPS is "normal" but the game is choppy!

I logged into KDE3 and tried just now and the game runs smooth... Is anyone else experiencing this?

Maybe it's the built-in composite manager. You can try turning it off (I don't know how, though).

I've noticed this too. Maybe it's just the NVidia card.

Anyway, I think this is fixed in Ubuntu 8.10

As atomkarinca said, I'd bet it's the Kwin compositing that's causing the problem. Try disabling the Desktop Effects and see if your games play smoothly under KDE 4.
