getting an hp scanner to work?

First, though, a question: have you hooked it up to the computer and tried to use it to see if it is recognized under 8.04?

Once you hook your scanner sane should detect it and your ready to go. The only thing you have to do is to go to System-->Administration-->Users and Groups and make yourself a member of the scanner group.

yes, I hooked it up to the computer but I don't see anywhere to access it. And I am using 8.04
