From my extensive supply of stock photography that I use for my clients, I decided to make a few Ubuntu wallpapers. A way for me (and others I'm hoping) to spice up their desktop and make it tasty!

You know you would help out your own server and a LOT of dialup users if you'd zip these. I started to fetch that "apple" and gave up after about three minutes...

They are pretty big...I guess not everyone has T1! :-D I don't really worry about bandwidth on my server.....I don't have a limit with my hosting plan.

I'll zip them individually and get thumbnails up there too.

Not really. most JPGs are already compressed internally and zipping them doesn't give you more than 2-3 % reduction in size.

Except they aren't jpegs... and pngs can zip up very well.

Well, now that I can actually see them I'd like to get a couple. Like the gumdrops and the other bright one a lot... let's hope he comes back here soon enough and fixes the problem.

I think all of them should have something on them and I have a few suggestions

1. The sunset, pretend it's a sunrise (or find a sunrise) and add in "Ubuntu: The future is bright"
2. The outlook photo "Ubuntu: Open to everyone"
3. One of lolly photos "Ubuntu: Sweeet"
4. Another of the lolly photos "Ubuntu: Everyones favourite"
5. The allsorts photo "Ubuntu: For all sorts"
6. The ontherocks photo "Ubuntu: As easy as making a coffee"

jakeslife, I love your stuff, but I think you should make two versions of the ones with the catch phrases like "Refreshing"-- one with and one without.

Sure it'll make your bandwidth go nuts, but you don't have a limit ;)

I don't really like the extra text. It's well done, it's just not my taste-- definitely not dissing your work at all, I love it.

Edit: and just an afterthought, what was the inspiration for the latte on rocks?

Jakeslife.net, they are all awesome. I'm gonna put the one with water as my grubsplash image, it will need a bit of playing arround with first, I believe you can only have 14 colours.
