Hi,

I've just bought a Q6600 processor online and im doing a little research.

I did see a link which said the Q6600 is compatible with Dell BIOS 2.4.0 which i have. Also another person said they had the Q6600 upgraded from the E6300. Which i have.

However, another site says its not compatible with my system!
I'm getting a bit worried I've thrown £130 down the bog.

I have Dell E520
0WG864 motherboard
E6300 current processor.

Can someone else confirm it will work when i put it in?

Thanks ever so much:popcorn:

Hey my bro has that exact model/mobo! So in the end Q6600 just plug and play with mobo or no go?

According to this post (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_upghw&thread.id=108054&c=us&l=en&cs=&s=gen) the 0WG864 motherboard uses the P965 chipset, which I believe supports the Q6600.

There are three different Q6600 models, the higher TDP ones will not work in some motherboards.
