Hi. I upgraded 7.10 to 8.04 a couple of weeks ago. Still a noob, so made the best selections I could.. Then installed Firefox 3 beta. I now get the error about partial upgrades only at startup. Have been reading posts, mostly here, but the problem is getting worse, not better ](*,)
Now when I boot up I find I can't get into software sources, update manager or synaptic package manager. I can click on them and the mouse pointer turns to a swirling circle, but nothing else happens.
I run Windows versions from VMWare Workstation, and a few apps from Ubuntu to learn more about it. Prior to the upgrade I was able to sync my Windows Mobile PDA via USB to the XP installation under VMWare however it no longer can see it.
Is there a way to clean up/fix this install? Or should I just kill it and try a fresh install?
