So I have a decent but older computer, Pentium 4 processor and 1 gig of RAM, that I run a server on. I wanted to have a desktop environment installed so I installed it on top of my install of ubuntu server edition. It worked fine for a long time until I did an update and it started running wicked slow.
Thinking it had an issue with Ubuntu Sever Edition I went with a clean install of just regular Xubuntu. It was still slow!
So then I thought it was my old GeForce 4 graphics card that was broken so I put in a GeForce 5500 FX that I know works.
I re-installed Xubuntu, it worked for a couple of days, I restart the computer and then my resolution gets set really low and there is no option to put it higher. I reboot again and then it runs using 100% of my CPU!
Whats going on!
