View Full Version : [gnome] GNOME window behavior

I'm a relatively new GNOME user, and I've noticed that, more often than not, if I open an application or a new window, it automatically opens at the bottom of the screen instead of at the top. For example, if I have Thunderbird open and open an email, it opens the email window at the very bottom of my screen, instead of at the top, where it's easier to read. If I'm on a blank workspace and open something, it tends to open near the top of the screen, though. It's almost as if newly-opened GNOME windows are afraid to cover window title bars that are already open.

Also, about 90% of the time, if I double-click a picture in Nautilus, it'll open the default GNOME picture viewer, but it'll open it BEHIND the Nautilus window, and I'll stay in Nautilus instead of automatically switching windows to what it just opened. I originally thought this only happened if I already had the picture viewer open, but sometimes it'll do it even if Nautilus is the only thing I have up.

Is there any way to reconfigure these window behaviors?
