View Full Version : [other] Ubuntu Studio RAID Install...

Here's my audio workstation:

Vista Ultimate x64
ASUS Crosshair Motherboard (Nvidia 590SLI chipset)
AMD Opteron 1216 (2.4GHz)
4GB G.Skill RAM
Nvidia 8800GTX (PNY)
E-Mu 1212m (Sound Card)
RealTek Ethernet controller
2 320GB Western Digital SATA drives in RAID 0 (with the onboard "fake" RAID controller on the motherboard...)

Apparently, Ubuntu Studio (8.04) only comes with the alternate (text-based) installer. I boot from the DVD, and everything goes fine, until the partitioner starts. Like many other threads here, the issue with raid applies (it just shows the physical drives instead of the partitions on the array). I'm stuck. I used the disk management in Vista to make a 20GB partition that is formated in NTFS just for the purpose of installing Ubuntu Studio, that is the only other partition on the array (other than the main one...). I've been reading about fixing this through the LIVE install, but I don't have that luxury. I'm a newb (I will probably need to be spoon-fed), and just want to get up and running.

Any Help is appreciated GREATLY.
