Cannot find release ubuntu 8.04 in update Manager

I check my updates as i read here: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/upgrade-ubuntu-710-gutsy-gibbon-to-ubuntu-804-lts-hardy-heron.html
but i don't see the new distribution. Can anyone help me? (i am newbie linux user)

Are you up to date with all the updates before trying to upgrade?

One way to upgrade from gutsy to hardy is to edit /etc/apt/sources.list and change all instances of gutsy to hardy. After that you can use apt or aptitude to dist-upgrade.
