So far 8.04 is the only ubuntu I've had trouble installing.

I'm trying to install on a vmware 5.5.6 vm. It boots from cd ok and gets to 40% of the install before failing with disk io errno=5. I've deleted and reinstalled the vm a couple times.

I don't know how to test the installation cd that I created from the iso, but I doubt there is anything wrong with it. Could it boot from the cd and get to 40% if the cd was bad? The host system has a sata raid 1 hdd setup.

Well, no one that knows anything responded to the thread in the vmware forums either. The 'supported guest os' document for vmware workstation indicates that no version of workstation supports any version of 8.x ubuntu. I find that pretty weird, no one is running current ubuntu using vmware?
