View Full Version : [ubuntu] 8.04 upgrade - OpenOffice fails, DicOOo.sxw problem

Just upgraded from 7.10 (Gutsy) to 8.04 (Hardy) and got an error part way through:

short read in buffer_copy (backend dpkg-deb during './usr/share/myspell/dicts/DicOOo.sxw')

'/var/cache/apt/archives/openoffice.org-common_1%3a2.4.0-3ubuntu6_all.deb' package may be in not working state

The upgrade finished installing, but most of Open Office won't work.

I looked at a previous forum post which said to download another copy of DicOOo.sxw from here:
http://ftp.services.openoffice.org/pub/OpenOffice.org/contrib/dictionaries/dicooo/DicOOo.sxw

So I did this and copied it to the folder, but sadly when trying to reinstall openoffice I just got the same error.

Can anyone help?

Just tried installing openoffice again but still no joy - same error produced. Does anyone have any clue?

Many thanks,
Bill
