Hey guys,
I'm trying to install ubuntu as my only OS on my laptop. It is a IBM T23 model, 1.13ghz, 256mb ram, older laptop.
During install, it goes very slow, but my main concern is that it locks up in the same place.
right after you enter all the preliminary choices and select install, it goes to "Installing System".
At that point, it reaches 15% and says "Detecting file systems..."
Then the system just hangs there. I cannot move my mouse at all, no progress is going on, the CD-Rom stops and the HDD shows no activity (and has no sound from it either).
Please help! I would really like to get ubuntu on this system because Windows XP pro seems to make it lag too much for my tastes. Everything I want to do can be done in linux/ubuntu, so I'd really like to make this move happen.
HELP!
