Good afternoon

Just a simple question! How do I install ubuntu on a disk as if new? I basically want to overwrite all previous data.

As the install gets to the partitioning phase what option do I use?

Any help will be very gratefully received

Regards

You can try either whole disk guided or manual and you will have control over what the partitions are and formatting.

Thanks for the reply. My understanding of linux formatting is nil, hence the question. I have just been through the guided route and a previous OS was found and still happens to be recognised even though its broken.

If I go for manual what partitions do I have to have for a functioning system?

If you genuinely want to delete everything on the disk pick "erase disk" and the installer will format that disk and setup the correct partitions for you.

Thank you, I must have missed that option
