Live CD works but installation fails

Hey everybody,

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 8.04, but the installation fails at about 43% with an error about the disc/disc drive/hard disk being bad. Is there any way I can download/rip the iso while running the live CD to my HDD and install from that?

You could try something like unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/)
