Hey Ubuntuists! I need an icon set for a mockup I am creating; once I decide on an icon set, it will be ready for coding!!!

Any suggestions? Please provide links!

I like it, but it has too many mac icons to be the default for Ibex.

Too many mac icons? These are all original Icons. In fact, they were made just for KDE4. Though I have to agree a bit, they are kinda flashy

Look on Gnome-look for Crashbit. It's my absolute favorite Gnome icon theme.

Black-White 2 Vista Big

Yes, yes, I know it says "Vista" in there but the set looks pretty nice :P

Crashbit is my fav. now.
Used to like NuoveTX.

Eikon is good but some off the icons are a turn off.

I like the classic look of GNOME 2.18 icons which also blends in nicely with the Tango style. Get it here (http://art.gnome.org/themes/icon/1352).

Crashbit looks horrible IMO.

Tango:

sudo apt-get install tango-icon-theme tango-icon-theme-common tango-icon-theme-extras

Ughh anything but Tango--- looks too toyish.

Well i am on a mac right now and I know that home icon and the applications icon were taken directly from Mac- I am on Mac OS X 10.3...

And Crashbit's Folders come directly from OS X 10.5 Leopard.

No they don't.

They're a direct decendant of the folder icons in his gTango theme, which in turn are tango folders with the perspective changed.

Here is a link to the gTango theme http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=73176&forumpage=0. If you can't recognize the obvious progression then I don't really know what to tell you.

Buuf-Deuce is a very unique rustic looking and brownish Icon theme.

Haha ok I agree with you. In this progression they just struck me as OS X like, which they are, but they are more like gTango indeed...

Not to say I dont like, but this would never work for the default Ubuntu Icon set.

My version's slightly modified, but I love LiNsta 0.3 (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/LiNsta-icons?content=62759). :)

Not saying they would, I just don't want the author getting a bad rep. He had been working on the theme a long time and many people were tracking it's progression (he would regularly post up his current work and ask for opinions).

I guess in the end there are only so many ways you can draw a folder. A folder is such a simplistic object in terms of form when you think about it, it's basically 2 rounded rectangles with a tab on one of them. It's kind of like a monitor icon, there are only so many ways you can draw it. There are bound to be instances where two people can make similar icons without ever seeing each others work.

Yeah you are correct. I do like his over gTango, and think its nice. It just struck me as similar to OS X...

I just tried crashbit, and I don't like the default blue folders, but it looks interesting.

For the last couple weeks I've been using nuoveXT ( http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/nuoveXT+2?content=56625 )

I like the default human theme or whatever because you can preview text in text files, I wish that was the case in all icon themes.

You should make a custom theme, it's pretty easy.

Just make a duplicate of the Ubuntu theme, then replace the Icons you don't like.

+1 for crashbit, i have used if for a couple months now. Buff-Deuce comes in a close second. Tango is too win98, not in style but in quality. the first time i saw it i thought my resolution was messed up.

I have decided to go with the HUman icons, as they actually do integrate with my theme very well.
