New to Linux. Getting Hardy set up. Synaptics has a package that enables one to make a Google Earth package, I think.

If I use synaptics to install the package to "enable one to automatically build a Google Earth package", what do I do with it?

In other words, after synaptics has downloaded and installed googleearth package, what is to be done?

Or do I still need to go to the Google Earth website and download it?

after synaptic installs it you are done mate, there is nothing else that you need to do. I think that you can even install Google Earth from source, and in the google earth website they explain how to

But what do I do with the result of the synaptics? It didn't add anything to my menus. If I go to /usr/bin/make-google-earth-package it won't execute.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Not sure why it didn't add a menu entry but you can probably run it with

googleearth
Press Alt+F2 and enter that in
