minmize problem

i am not sure about where i should post my window minimize problem.so please dont mind if am at wrong section..

I am beginner in Linux..just installed Ubuntu yesterday for the very first time..

My OS was working fine but now when i minimize my windows,programmes become hidden and will not shown in pannel....alt+tab short key is also not working now..i am unable to maximize my programmes and windows.

please help me how to solve this problem..

First, let us learn if this problem is Compiz oriented. ıf Compiz is active, please use:

Alt+F2 -> metacity --replace
to disable it. Does the problem persist?

You can re-activate Compiz with:

Alt+F2 -> compiz --replace
