Any way to calculate the amount of space needed?

I am going to reinstall windows on my laptop, with only a few art programs. The rest of the space will be used for Ubuntu. IS there any way to calulate how much space winxp plus select programs will take?

Besides simple addition of the size of the installations then I dont know... better to estimate than to not have enough space and be sorry you dont have it.
