I'm completely new to any form of linux. i'm trying to install xubuntu on an old machine that used to run Windows 98. its an HP pavilion 6355, which i believe meets all the minimum system requirements. what happens is i boot from the cd i got and choose install xubuntu (i checked the c for errors and tested the memory, both were good), and it shows an xubuntu logo with a loading bar. i walked away for a little and when i came back it had a black screen with this text on it:
"[325.406540] Out of memory: kill process 3640 (localedef) score 545 or a child
[325.406642] killed process 3640 (localedef)"
i can type below it. (i assume this is the command line.) I have no idea what this means, or what to do about it. nothing has happened since. thank you for your help.
