I had installed Hardy (clean installation) and installed envy. I installed ati drivers using envy and it works. When rebooting i had 3d acceleration, glxgears fine, copiz fusion working... But when rebooting Xserver (ctrl+Alt++Backspace) ubuntu stars in low resolution mode. I had probed a lot of things and nothing works.
Everytime i reinstall hardy and driver it works, but when starting after rebooting Xserver or the sistem it doesent work. Any sigestion? Is it a bug of xserver?. I have to say that compiz works perfectly with ubuntu 7.10 with the very same machine.

grafic card: ATI Radeon 9600.
trying to use Ubuntu Hardy.

Thanks.
