Hi
Do you run a pure Gnome,KDE or XFCE system.
If so do you delete the repo`s /packages you don`t need.
Is there any advantages does it make ubuntu any faster also any pitfalls to running a pure system

No pitfalls to running a "pure" system.
Nothing will be faster, though, unless you remove programs that are services running in the background.

I run a rather pure KDE/dwm system on Slackware. It's harder to do in Ubuntu, but installing just KDE rather than kubuntu-desktop (as an example) will usually help resource usage.

Most people that want this will start with the server cd and do
sudo apt-get install kde-core/gnome-core/xfce
