Hi, I am looking for some ideas to solve this problem. Me and my girlfriend have a file server for our home network (Ubuntu 7.10 Server) which we access through NFS (Ubuntu 8.04 desktop) and samba (Windows XP desktop and HTPCs). We both store our music on the file server, but are not happy with the implementation.
Right now, under /storage/music, we have the following directories:
common
mike
becky
'common' holds the stuff we both like, and the other two directories are self-explanatory. This works fine with Amarok or Songbird or whatever, I just point the program at both directories. But for synchronizing to portable devices (iAudio and Sansa), using with Windows HTPCs (MediaPortal), the situation is just... clunky.
