Java fails in firefox

When i try to acces my internet bank the java applet fails, saing:

Start: applet not initialized

I'm using:

java version "1.6.0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b09)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.6.0-b09, mixed mode)

on ubuntu 8.04 Hardy heron

I tried to remove the icedtea plugin and then som application that did not load before loaded fine, but not my bank's java applet.

i realy need some helpe here i'm new to linux and i REALY want thing's to work here:)
