Does anyone know of a robust IRC applet that can run off a hosted website? Perhaps cgi or php or even java ? To allow for joining channels and posting ?

Are there any well known ones ?

p.s. I would prefer something PHP based as this would allow me to get past firewalls when needed.

Thank you!

I don't think it's PHP, but it is AJAX based, you can check out http://www.mibbit.com which provides a small applet to put on your own site

Here's a direct link http://www.mibbit.com/widget.html

Thanks, that's a great link, you can place the widget on your site but it all runs off the mibbit server so a) if your host prevents irc or b) if the firewall prevents common irc ports it will still work, very nice :)

Glad you liked it :)

It's how I stay online through Uni (unless I want to ssh through their server to get to my home server & use wee-chat ;))
