I am the project leader of a community project currently in alpha testing. Our aim is to provide free web hosting for the open source community so people can have there own subdomain and a website about themselves easily without money hassles.

For us to decide a few things we need a rough estimate of how many people would use this service and who would support it?

i think you're targeting ubuntu users more then the "open source community"

i don't think a "subdomain and a website about themselves" is what really linux users are looking for.

linux users need their projects, distros, tools, files, etc . hosted

linux users are more "experienced" and into projects and developing.

maybe you should re-think both service offerings and your target audience

its better u know this now then seeing your work fail later on.

but don't take my word, do whatever u feel is right

Thanks for your input
