New to Linux.

I am running Kubuntu Hardy on NEC laptop. Have installed XP in VirtualBox. My physical HD has a FAT32 partition which contains various documents, photos, etc. I can access it from XP as a VB shared folder mapped as a drive, opening, moving, copying files.

I use a rather old fashioned Windows genealogy program called Brother's Keeper (BK6) (http://www.bkwin.net/) that uses the BTRIEVE database engine. BK6 will happily open a database on the virtual C:/ drive but when I try to open the identical files in the shared partition it can't find the files and gives various error messages. However I CAN open, modify and save database files using Notepad.

Can someone please help?
