Why in the world do these things tie into each other? Since I dont use things like F-Spot, Ekiga, any bluetooth things I chose to remove them but if I do, it removes ubuntu-desktop and other things then IK must do a partial upgrade and these items return, its very annoying..any ideas?

I didin't think that Ekiga et al. were in ubuntu-desktop anymore?

I know I've removed Ekiga on every install of Gutsy/Hardy I've ever done

It actually doesn't matter,coz Ubuntu-desktop is a meta package.

I didnt either but ubuntu-desktop was removed if i did a "complete removal" same with compiz and evolution and britty and britty-x11:(

Why is this? It hasnt been before and ive removed them numerous times without these issues

Don't do a complete removal then ;)

I just used Add/Remove to get rid of Ekiga :) And then apt-get from the CLI for others I'd missed
