I'm new to Ubuntu, and having difficulty with installation on my IBM T30 Laptop with 80Gb HD & 512Mb of RAM.
1. I've downloaded the installation and create a CD.
2. The demo run is fine - no glitch (at least that's
i'm seeing).
3. Was able to connect to my home's wireless router and got
the internet going. Other apps appeared to be working as
well.
4. When i began to install, the following problem
occurred at step 3 of "Install" dialog
- Partman Crashed: partman failed with exit code 10.
Further info may be found in /var/log/syslog.
- I pressed the "Try Again" button, but it keeps going
forever...
5. How do i get the 3-D desktop graphics to come up?

Please help me to get over this hurdle. :(

Try getting out of the install and check that log file.

Also, maybe see here:
